หลายๆ คนก็รู้อยู่แล้วฟิลิปินส์เป็นมหาอำนาจทางบาสเก็ตบอล และรู้มาระดับนึงว่าฟิลิปินส์เป็นประเทศที่คลั่งไคล้บาสเก็ตบอลมากขนาดไหน จากการที่ผมได้ติดตามการแข่งขัน PBA มานัดแล้วนัดเล่า ผมก็พอกะระดับความเก่งกาจของทีมชาติฟิลิปินส์ได้แหละ ว่ามันอยู่คนละระดับกัน ณ จุดนี้
แต่จนกว่าจะได้มาดูชุดทีมชาติของเขามาถล่มทีมชาติอื่นๆ แล้ว ถึงจะค่อยรู้สึกถึงความเป็นราชาของกีฬานี้จริงๆ
It’s one thing to know that the Philippines are very good at basketball. Most people know about the country-wide craze over the sport. I know how good they are. I’ve watched the PBA game after game after game, enough to understand that the level of basketball played in the Philippines is in a whole different level.
But it isn’t until you really see the Nation’s Basketball Team in action while dominating another nation’s select group of players that you totally understand their dominance.
I truly wonder if I can take anything away from the Indonesian National Team that participated in the SEABA Championship and use it to project the team that will play in the SEA Games 2015 as both teams have completely different rosters.
สงสัยจริงๆ ว่าจะอ้างอิงข้อมูลของทีมชาติอินโดนีเซีย จากรายการแข่ง SEABA ที่ผ่านมานี้ เพื่อให้ในการคาดการณ์ผลงานใน SEA Games 2015 ได้มากน้อยแค่ไหน…ก็พี่แกเล่นเปลี่ยนรายชื่อผู้เล่นทั้ง 12 ตัวเลย!
As the teams of the SEABA Championships approached their positions for the award ceremony, you could feel a sense of dissatisfaction from the Singapore team.
Winning bronze in any international competition is no small feat, but I think Singapore set the bar for themselves a bit higher than that.

การคว้าตำแหน่งอันดับสาม หรือ เหรียญทองแดงในรายการแข่งบาสเก็ตบอลระดับนานาชาตินี่ ไม่ใช่อะไรที่ทำได้ง่ายๆ แต่สำหรับสิงคโปร์แล้ว น่าจะตั้งเป้าหมายไว้สูงกว่านั้น เลยเกิดความผิดหวัง

ผมมีเรื่องจะสารภาพ: ผมไม่ได้หวังอะไรมากกับบาสทีมชาติมาเลเซียในรายการ SEABA 2015 ที่ผ่านมา
อย่างที่น่าจะทราบกันแล้ว ประเทศไทยนั้นจะเข้าร่วมการแข่งขัน ซีเกมส์ ในช่วงวันที่ 5 ถึง 16 มิถุนายนที่จะถึงนี้ ซึ่งจะมีการจัดแข่งที่สิงคโปร์
รู้ว่าทุกคนคงกำลังตื่นเต้นอยู่กับกีฬา วูชู และ ปันจัก สีลีท ผมก็อยากจะมาแจ้งเตือนด้วย ว่า ซีเกมส์จะมีแข่งบาสเก็ตบอลเด้วย!
As some of you might know, Thailand will be participating in the SEA (South East Asian) Games this coming 5th-16th of June, which will be held at Singapore.
While I know that most of you will be pumped to watch Wushu and Pencak Silat, I need to remind you that there will also be basketball!
